Un mari à la porte, an opéra-bouffe in one act by Jacques Offenbach (1819-1890)

A stranger in the chimney, a friend who wants to dance, an annoyed newly-wed bride and her husband who stands at the door and is not allowed in. A husband at the door is a work that should not be taken too seriously as a story, but all the more serious as a piece. Although the storyline seems a bit superficial, it offers much as a work for theater. Offenbach gives us four figures bordering on a charicature, with which he creates an entire world of relations. It is in these relations that the humour lies. These charicatures, together with theatrical play, will be used in this production to emphasise the playfulness and the relatability of this piece.
