Rennik-Jan Neggers (1993, Helmond, The Netherlands) graduated as Master of Science in Cultural Sociology from the University of Amsterdam in 2016. He acquired his first theatre experiences during an internship as assistant stage-director with director David Bösch during a production of Le nozze di Figaro at Dutch National Opera (DNO). At DNO he got to know the chief-dramaturg Klaus Bertisch and subsequently worked for him as assistant-dramaturg since the beginning of 2017.  Simultaneously, Rennik-Jan started to shift his focus towards stage-directing and participated as a young talent in the ‘Opera Creation Workshop’ led by stage-director Katie Mitchell, organised by the European Network of Opera Academies at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Since then, he staged projects for various organisations including: Delft Chamber Music Festival, Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA), Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, Conservatory of Tilburg and DNO-lunchconcerts. Also he assisted stage-director Floris Visser for the production Juditha Triumphans (Vivaldi) at DNO.

In 2017, he started the foundation Studio Salix of which he is the artistic leader. He created and staged their début production Keukentaferelen (Kitchen scenes). Since March 2019, Rennik-Jan has been living in Munich (Germany) after having been admitted to the Stage Directing programme at the renowned August Everding Theaterakademie. Recently, he directed the first part of a triptych short-opera project in the Concertgebouw for the Dutch National Opera Academy in cooperation with Entrée. This season he will direct the young talent production Magelone & Peter for De Nederlandse Reisopera (Dutch National Touring Opera), Non muore mai for Studio Salix and two productions at the August Everding Theaterakademie.
